Waiting for Perfect Weather? Don’t.

"Proceed anyway. Courage is going forward in spite of what you see."

“Proceed anyway. Courage is going forward in spite of what you see.”

Sunny skies, wind at a breezy 10 miles per hour, 78 degrees and no humidity—perfect weather! Will that happen every day?

Probably not.

Neither will the perfect conditions for your dream. Daily doldrums from the job, the chores and just plain life can stifle your vision faster than a summer shower can shut down a picnic.

Chances of rain are a normal part of the weather cycle. Chances of unexpected bills, discouragement and technical problems are a normal part of any venture. But you don’t have to let seasonal threats cancel your plans. Or worse yet, let the fear of them prevent you from trying.

Be prepared.

  • When it rains, carry an umbrella. (Tap savings or eliminate nonessentials when invoices fall from the sky.)
  • Too sunny, wear sunscreen and look for shade. (Develop procedures and policies to protect your organization from threats.)
  • Wind gusts from a sudden change in temperature? Don’t miss your opportunity to soar. (Imitate the eagle, which flies high above the storm. Changes in laws, consumer demand and new technology signal a chance for growth. Take advantage of the changing environment by embracing change.)

Be fearless.

  • Life is not perfect. (Crazy things will happen.)
  • You are not perfect. (You will experience failure.)
  • Your plan is not perfect. (Yes, even though it’s beautifully researched, “focus-grouped” and embellished with charts, graphs and a long-term plan.)
  • Proceed anyway. (Courage is going forward in spite of what you see.)

Keep trying.
The only way to accomplish anything is to first TRY! The pathway to your goal is like a beautiful picture broken into 5,000 pieces. There is no perfect plan for putting together a puzzle. You see the complete picture—you know what your dream looks like. But, where do you start?

Simple. Pick up one piece and begin.

Sure, it’s haphazard at first—you can’t tell what goes where and you make mistakes. Sometimes it seems as if you are missing pieces. You’re not. All the pieces are in the box. God has given you everything you need to become what you are supposed to be.

If you are willing to pursue “IT” in spite of the weather (don’t stop because you are uncomfortable, challenged, confused, etc.), you will succeed.

Meditate on this: “God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.” (2 Samuel 22:23, KJV)
