You don’t have the strength to lift the heavy weight of sin from your life, but the Holy Spirit does
Relocating is exciting, but also stressful. I know. We just did it, again. You have to pack all your stuff, years and years of accumulation–knick-knacks, mementos, awards, pictures, things that will be useful one day… So you dig in and start sorting. You find things you forgot you had. You get overwhelmed. “What are you going to do with all this stuff?”
Easy. Get a mover.
The movers are not sentimental. Unlike you, they have no problem throwing things away or leaving it behind. The really professional ones don’t even ask a lot of questions. They just give you a list of what you need to do before they arrive, and a list of things they will not pack. Movers will not carry anything toxic or dangerous to your new destination. (Don’t try to sneak anything in either; they will unpack the box, remove the sneaky item, and repack it.)
Our relocation company reminded me a lot of another MOVER, the Holy Spirit. Once you receive Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit arrives to help you move from carnal state of mind to a spiritual state of mind.(Read Part 1: Relocate–Move Away from Your Flesh)
Ephesians 1:13-14
“It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.” (The Message)
As a Christian you receive a great benefit when the Holy Spirit comes into your life. He knows what to do, how to do it, and He has the power to do it. Just as a relocation company brings everything you need for the move (boxes, tape, hand trucks, and the man power–they do the heavy lifting); so does the Holy Spirit. His job is to deliver you to God.
You don’t have the strength to lift the heavy weight of sin from your life, but the Holy Spirit does. Jesus sends His Holy Spirit to give you power to resist sin. Just let Him do His job–do not vex The Mover!
What offends The Holy Spirit? Toxic behavior. See the Holy Spirit’s DO NOT PACK LIST below…

- Indignation
- Wrath (This includes passion, rage and bad temper due to their explosive nature.)
- Resentment (Anger and animosity)
- Quarreling (Absolutely N0 brawling, clamor or contention allowed.)
- Slander (Evil speaking, abusive or blasphemous language will not be tolerated.)
- Malice (All ill will or baseness of any kind will be removed.)
(Ephesians 4:31-32, The Amplified Bible, paraphrased)
Meditate on this…
Ephesians 4:30
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).” (The Amplified Bible)
