Release Your Potential.

You don't want Christ to remain a small seed in your life, you want him to grow and take over your life

Christ shouldn’t remain a small seed in your life, allow him to grow and transform your life.

Do you often dream of doing great things, but your reality is far from great? The key to moving from ordinary to extraordinary is closer than you think. It’s actually deep inside of you. The person you want to become is dwelling in you now as a seed, and it’s time for her to grow up. But, there is one key ingredient you must have to start the process–The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not some spooky ghost who takes control of your body and makes you chant uncontrollably in weird languages. Although speaking in tongues is a sign of receiving the Holy Spirit, it is not the only or most important sign. The major sign that a believer has received the Holy Spirit is a changed life.

“There are many more, tens of thousands of God’s dear children, who as yet know little of any even temporary experiences of a brighter life than one of never-ending stumbling and rising…To the best part of their birthright as God’s children, to the most precious gift of the Father’s love in Christ, the gift of the Holy Spirit, to dwell in them, and to lead them, they are practically strangers.” (Andrew Murray, The Spirit of Christ, 1888.)

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. It is Jesus Himself who comes to dwell on the inside of you, giving you the power to resist sin, just as He did while on this earth. The Holy Spirit is also the Comforter who encourages us during trials and tribulations (John 14:26). Plus, the Holy Spirit is the one who transforms us into the image of Christ and, thank goodness, He will never stop until the work is finished.

Now if you want to expedite the transformation, receive the baptism Holy Spirit. Understan d, when you asked Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior you received the gift of eternal salvation immediately and a measure (the Seed) of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Christ bonded with your spirit. But, if you want the Holy Spirit to have full access to your life, you must give Him permission (Acts 19:1-5). In other words, you don’t want Christ to remain a small seed in your life, you want him to grow and transform your life. It’s simple. Just pray . . .

“Dear Lord, I want to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I give you permission to fully control my life through your Holy Spirit. I receive this gift now and I am willing to follow your lead instead of my own will. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”

If you prayed this prayer, believe that you received the Holy Spirit by faith just like you received salvation by faith. The Bible promises that the gift of the Holy Spirit is ours for the asking in Luke 11:13, which says, “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

What will be the evidence of the gift of the Holy Spirit?

  1. The desire to spend more time with God
  2. The desire to resist sin (If you previously enjoyed sinful acts, those same acts will no longer be enjoyable; you will start to experience conviction if you continue in them.)
  3. The desire to obey God
  4. The desire to love and help others
  5. Speaking in a prayer language (This may happen immediately or over a period of time. You will have to try to speak in a language other than your known language. Usually, you begin the utterance with an act of your will, and then the Holy Spirit will take over giving you words that you do not know. The purpose of having a prayer language is to allow the Holy Spirit to pray for you when you do not know how to pray. Believe you will receive your prayer language by faith, just like you would believe God by faith to forgive you of your sins. By all means, never feel condemned or like your faith is not strong just because you have not yet received a prayer language. If you asked for it, you will eventually receive it.)

WaterWindAndFireFor more information on the Holy Spirit, read “Water, Wind & Fire: Understanding the New Birth and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit” by Mac Hammond. Also, use the “Scripture Search” tool on this page and type in the keyword “Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost”. Read all of the passages (especially those in the New Testament) for more understanding.

Once you allow the powerful person of the Holy Spirit to control your life and your decisions, you will begin to see dramatic changes. As your character begins to line up more and more with the character of Christ, those gifts and talents that have been dormant will be activated like never before. New doors of opportunity will open because now you will go through them with the right motive–the desire to be a blessing to others.
