No matter what you’ve gone through or what you’ve done, you never lose your value in God’s eyes. Our value to God is intrinsic. He considers every person, a treasure. In the same way our children are priceless to us, we are irreplaceable to God. We are His children.
What would you do if your child was lost?
You would do everything in your power to find them. You would call the police and the FBI. You would contact every family member and every friend and ask them: “Have you seen my child?” You would notify the media (radio, TV and newspapers) and put flyers up all over town. You would post their picture on every social media site known to man. You would offer a reward to anyone with information that could lead to their return.
God did all of that and more—for you. His child was stolen by a thief. The ransom price was enormous—a life for a life.
John 3:16-18, Living Bible – “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. There is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust him to save them. But those who don’t trust him have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God.”
1 Timothy 2:5-7, King James Version – “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
In God’s eyes, every child is an “only child”. Each person He created is absolutely unique. No two people have ever been or ever will be exactly alike. So, losing even one child is completely heartbreaking to God.
Luke 15:3-7, Living Bible – “So Jesus used this illustration: “If you had a hundred sheep and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine others to go and search for the lost one until you found it? And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders. When you arrived you would call together your friends and neighbors to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found. “Well, in the same way heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who haven’t strayed away!
If you were the only person in the entire world who was lost, God still would have sent Jesus to die on the cross.
Romans 8: 31-33, Living Bible – “What can we ever say to such wonderful things as these? If God is on our side, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son for us but gave him up for us all, won’t he also surely give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has forgiven us and given us right standing with himself.”
Do you realize that Jesus is continuously praying for you in Heaven? He is praying that you would repent (turn around) and come home. Jesus has already paid the price for your return trip to Heaven.
Romans 8:34, Living Bible – “Who then will condemn us? Will Christ? No! For he is the one who died for us and came back to life again for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us there in heaven.”
Do not be deceived by your trouble. Trouble can’t keep you from the love of God.
Romans 8:35-39, Living Bible – “Who then can ever keep Christ’s love from us? When we have trouble or calamity, when we are hunted down or destroyed, is it because he doesn’t love us anymore? And if we are hungry or penniless or in danger or threatened with death, has God deserted us? No, for the Scriptures tell us that for his sake we must be ready to face death at every moment of the day—we are like sheep awaiting slaughter; but despite all this, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us enough to die for us. For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.”
Come home. When you do, God cleanses you of every sin and makes you brand new—full of the innocence and potential He originally placed in you.
